We hold sensitive material from sensitive moments. Here is what we do with it, in plain English, before the lawyered version below.

The short version. We store only what we need to make the product work. We don't sell your data. We don't use it to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. We don't share it with marketers. The only people inside Compass who can see your sessions are a small engineering team, and only with your explicit permission for support. You can delete everything at any time.
Compass ("we," "us," "our") is operated by Compass Family App LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Contact: privacy@compassfamily.app. This policy applies to compassfamily.app, app.compassfamily.app, and any related Compass services (the "Service").
We do not collect: precise geolocation, your contacts, your calendar, your microphone or camera input, or any data from third-party platforms unless you explicitly connect them.
We use your data to:
We do not use your data to train any AI model, ours or any third party's. AI providers we route requests through are contractually prohibited from training on Compass user content.
We share data with a small set of vendors required to run the Service. Each is bound by a data processing agreement.
We will never sell or rent your personal information to a third party. We do not share your content with advertisers, brokers, or research partners.
We will disclose data if compelled by valid legal process — a subpoena, court order, or warrant from a court of competent jurisdiction. We will, to the extent permitted by law, notify you before disclosure so you can object. We will resist requests we believe to be overbroad, retaliatory, or unlawful.
While your account is active, we retain your content. After cancellation, we keep your data for 30 days (so you can re-activate without losing context) and then begin deletion. Primary databases are purged within 90 days. Encrypted backups age out within 12 months.
If you request immediate deletion via account settings or email, we process it within 30 days.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Production access is limited to a small engineering team, requires hardware-key MFA, and is logged. We perform third-party penetration tests annually.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a breach affecting your data, we will notify affected users within 72 hours.

Compass is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us and we will delete the account.
Compass is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from another country, your data will be transferred to and stored in the US under standard contractual clauses where applicable. EU and UK residents have rights under GDPR; California residents have rights under CCPA/CPRA. We honor both.
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that constitutes acceptance.

The information, analyses, and reply drafts produced by the Service are for educational and communication-coaching purposes only. They are not a substitute for the advice of a licensed attorney, therapist, evaluator, or medical professional in your jurisdiction. Compass output is not legally privileged and may be subject to discovery.
The frameworks Compass uses (BIFF, gray rock, pattern recognition language such as DARVO) reflect general best practices in high-conflict communication research and family-court advocacy. They do not constitute a clinical diagnosis. Compass cannot diagnose any individual — including the person whose messages you paste — with a personality disorder or any other condition.
